Treatment Rituals
A deeply restorative Ayurvedic treatment that uses the sustained warmth of medicated herbal oils to nourish the body, soothe discomfort and encourage natural healing.
A treatment that works with warmth, not force.
Sometimes the body doesn't need deeper pressure; it needs warmth, stillness and time.
External Basti is one of Āyurveda's most traditional therapies. Using a reservoir of warm herbal oil placed over a specific area of the body, this treatment allows therapeutic warmth to penetrate deeply into the tissues, supporting circulation, easing muscular tension and encouraging the body's own restorative processes.
Unlike massage, which moves across the body, Basti focuses on one area with intention, creating a deeply nurturing experience that is both grounding and therapeutic.

About The Ritual
Every treatment begins with a warm herbal sole soak, allowing you to arrive and settle into the space. A gentle anointing of the crown and guided breath practice prepare the body before your personalised treatment begins.
A handcrafted dough vessel is then carefully placed over the area requiring support and filled with warm Ayurvedic herbal oil. The oil is replenished throughout the session to maintain a consistent therapeutic temperature while allowing the warmth to gently penetrate the tissues beneath.
Depending on your individual needs, the treatment may focus on the lower back, abdomen, heart, neck or another area of the body. Gentle massage and other therapeutic techniques may also be incorporated to complement the treatment.
Which Basti is right for you?
Rather than choosing a treatment based on a name, Leonie will recommend the most appropriate Basti for your body and current needs.
Kati Basti focuses on the lower back and pelvis and is commonly used to support lower back discomfort, stiffness and tension.
Kosha (or Yoni) Basti is centred around the lower abdomen and womb and may be incorporated to support women's health, including menstrual wellbeing, postpartum recovery and pelvic nourishment.
Uro Basti is applied over the heart centre and offers gentle warmth and support during times of emotional stress, grief or nervous system exhaustion.
Where appropriate, Basti may also be adapted for other areas of the body requiring focused therapeutic care.

Who is External Basti for?
External Basti may be beneficial for those experiencing persistent muscular tension, lower back discomfort, joint stiffness or chronic stress. It is also commonly incorporated into treatments supporting women's health, digestive wellbeing and nervous system regulation.
Many clients choose Basti when they feel depleted, run down or in need of a treatment that offers deep nourishment rather than strong pressure.
Āyurveda has long recognised warmth and oil as powerful therapeutic tools for calming the nervous system and supporting healthy movement within the body.
By maintaining gentle warmth over one area for an extended period, External Basti encourages circulation, softens surrounding tissues and allows the medicinal qualities of traditional herbal oils to work in a slow, sustained way.
For many clients, the experience is profoundly calming, creating a sense of ease that continues well beyond the treatment itself.
